Okay, the new system is finishing up being tested today. After that, CES is supposed to be transferring all the old items into my office area where I store my devicicals.
whos carter johnson?
What is the meaning of “Devicicals”? I’m wondering since you said it was related to smoke alarms or something like that and then you didn’t elaborate further.
It’s a slang term originated in the smoke alarm community. I don’t know how or when it came about, but we just use it I guess…
Okay, you’re not him. That told me e’rrthang.
Please don’t bother, that term has no sense whatsoever.
Exactly: just say “devices” like the rest of us have for at least over a decade now.
unrealated But here is my nss 4500 Emergency Evacuation Center that i made in roblox by modifying some random panel
system will get a redo as it is kinda old
From all of us at the Anti-Fire Alarm Trashing Police, we wish y’all a Merry Christmas and a Happy 2026! See you at Walters State in late January!
Siemens has 2 lines, 1 proprietary, 1 less so. The older MXL’s were definetly locked down but today siemens is less proprietary. Siemens isnt actually so bad as you say it is, its also really capable and can integrate with siemens hvac and other building solutions seamlessly. The panel thats being installed (FV922) is a part of the Cerberus pro line, which other companies besides siemens installs and maintains so other companies can maintain it. the small cerberus pro panels are even front proggramable to a certain extent! On the otherhand, desigo panels are only dealt by siemens and touched by them. Similar to fahrenhyt and SK.
No, thats not what he meant. JCI doesnt want autocall dealing companies to take over big simplex projects, thats basically it. They couldnt care less about someone bypassing smartsync.
What about Siemens dealers like CES? They finna have to do that with like 3 Simplex systems at my college campus.
The ban was only for Autocall dealing companies, not other dealers according to my knowledge. Correct me if i am wrong. Reason is JCI owns simplex and autocall, Simplex/JCI dont want their contracts being lost to autocall companies because then they lose money and they want to prevent that
Oh, well, okay I guess. I’ll still probably avoid them entirely anyway though (also last I checked most if not all Silent Knight FACPs are easily serviceable &/or programmable by just about anyone, since from what I’ve seen they’re not heavily-proprietary like Farenhyt is).
Typical JCI.
What @Croatian_fire_alarms is trying to say is that the Honeywell Fahrenheit brand is mostly equivalent to the Siemens Desigo brand, where they are extremely proprietary; and the Honeywell Silent Knight brand is very similar to the Siemens Cerberus PRO brand, where the products are much less proprietary and can be easily serviced by many people. It is just the same products, but with slightly modified software. You could also compare it to Simplex and Autocall, and Potter’s IPA vs AFC lines.
Yeah its sad but the company has a right to do what they please with the old devices
Well CES didn’t care when I asked and just went right ahead and gave me pretty much e’rrthang. They said “it’s all trash” to them anyway so they didn’t mind giving it to me.
Well that was nice of them, be nice if other service companies were willing to do that! (though hopefully most are)
That’s actually why I helped them out by taking some of the notification appliances off the walls as well as opening the pulls being replaced.
