Yeah the layout looks very different

By the way because I was just borrowing this from a friend I don’t still have this.

I should hopefully be getting my Captain Kelly today but I still don’t know.

The one that I should be getting is the linecord version because it’s the 941. The battery operated version is the 929.

I’m going to home search now so I will be delayed responding if you message me.

It’s also the Canadian version because it’s actually the model #941CA and it’s probably even rarer than initially thought lol!

We could probably send alarms in private DMs if you’d like, that’s basically what they do in Discord and such. It’s fine though if you’d like to search in peace though

Sure I’ll do that.

Ugh let me send it.

I do indeed, which is why I’m always open to receiving one (or five), heh.

Make sure to append “CO” to the beginning of the model number, as there’s no such thing as just the “5120B”.

Last I saw there’s no such thing as the 8120B, & the 3120B is one of those octagon-shaped detectors that’s dual sensor (ionization & photoelectric) & AC/DC (no escape light though).

Mhm: in fact as I once determined, BRK/First Alert made them from 2005 to 2023! (despite how ineffective ionization-only detectors are in general)

Well that’s simply just because BRK updated the label design over time.

I for one would appreciate it if you did that as you’re treating this topic like it’s DMs (38 freaking posts? Seriously? Jeez…)

Well, this is exciting!!
Today I got my Gillette Captain Kelly #941CA and here’s a picture along with a video of me testing it! But before you watch the video, PLEASE TURN YOUR VOLUME DOWN. THIS IS VERY LOUD.

And here’s a video POV from the bottom of my staircase to see how loud it is from a different point in the house.

Yeah that would definitely wake you in an emergency, heh.

Does it indeed have “CA” in the model number on its label, & if so is there any evidence that it is indeed the Canadian model?

It was shipped from Canada so yeah

One thing I noticed though is that it has Canadian French text on the back which makes sense

Here’s proof right here on the back

I was about to say that what you said didn’t answer either of my questions, but what you posted after your initial reply sure did, heh. Alright then: the fact that it actually says “941CA” on the back & has bilingual English-French text pretty much confirms it’s a Canadian model, which is cool (especially since supposedly no one knew it even existed up until now!). I wonder though: does that mean there are Canadian models of both the ESL 206 & Gillette Captain Kelly 929 as well?

Well we definitely know that Gillette was a part of both the USA and Canadian market so there’s a good chance that there’s a Canadian version of that too. Not quite sure about the ESL 206s though.

New acquisition: ESL 541CXT from my uncle.
This detector I figured out was from circa ~1998.

Nice! I actually have a very similar model, the gasketless (according to a data sheet that’s the difference between “B” & “C” models) 2-wire 521BXT. Does your 541CXT work fully?

It definitely operates because when I hooked a 9v battery up to it the LED blinked
