The horizontal AS had to come out at least before 1997, because they are installed in my dad’s new building, and they are the original alarms. I have one that was removed for a renovation to prove this (Date Code 4/3/97)

A mall in my area has these installed in roughly 1/2 the building (the other half is an addition built in 1994 that has MT4-LSMs, whose spacing is quite odd). I just added one of these to my collection actually:
When you look at the video, the strobes flash awfully fast for the alarms to be wheelock AS. I think they were MTs.
