First post in god knows how long. I’ve been busy with college and stuff. Anyways, hopefully anyone who knows stuff about HVAC can answer this question. I have an AC unit in my dorm room, and for the past week or so it makes this odd noise every 15-20 minutes and I can’t figure out what the heck it is.
Here’s a link to a video of the noise (hosted through Mega.nz):

Hopefully somebody has an answer to this because it’s been quite annoying while trying to sleep. Thanks!
I’m not sure if I can hear what you’re talking about. All I can hear is air moving through it. You may want to take it up with your RA/CM/whatever you call it at your school, because they’re usually pretty good at getting things done, albeit sometimes a little later than expected. My AC was flat-out broken for a good month but they did eventually get it fixed.
I am unable to play the sound file, but it happens regularly, it’s probably just the condenser cycling on and off. This will generate a slightly lower humming noise than the ambient fan noise from the unit.
It’s definitely not broken, but the sound I was referring to was that little click, then the whirring noise in the last 4 seconds of the file. It’s quieter on my computer than it was on my phone so you may have to turn the volume up a bit.

I ended up uploading it to YouTube so hopefully you’ll be able to actually play and hear the noise.
For that little click, it’s probably just a relay activating, nothing to worry about… but for the whirring noise, I honestly don’t know.
