Are there any restrictions with using 18 awg thhn wire in EMT for fire alarm circuits. I know the general rule is 14 awg.
No, it’s typical for SLC circuits. might not be large enough for NACs but for short low power runs it’ll work fine.
make sure thhn is accepted by the manufacturer of the facp, some panels wont work with it.
Sorry if it’s a little blurry. It does not specify the insulation type so would I have to contact the manufacture on that one.
In addition on another note how is shielded cable spliced togher. Do you just splice the drain wire from each wire togher, tape it and then ground it at the panel. Thanks.
Yes. Each run of TSP should have the drain wire complete through the entire run of the cable, be insulated from the conduit, and be terminated at the panel only.
