Hey, I recently acquired a Simplex 4606-9101 Annunciator and I’m programming it into the panel now (Btw I have a Simplex 4006-9101 control panel).
I set the baud rate to 9600, and the Annunciator address to 4.
In the panel it’s programmed to Card 4, however I’m still getting 2 troubles. A “Card 4, LCD Failed” and “Extra Card TROUBLE”.
If anyone can help me on this, it would be greatly appreciated!
Did you try auto-program? I think it checks for annunciators and adds them automatically if it finds them. Based on the troubles you listed, it found an annunciator, but not at the right address. Try auto-program, if that doesn’t work, you can try adding it manually again.
Here’s the manual for clarification: Adding An Annunciator; Automatically Adding Annunciator Cards; Manually Adding An Annunciator Module; Accessing Annunciator Menus - Simplex 4006-9121 Technical Manual [Page 54] | ManualsLib
Hey, I haven’t done that yet, but I’ll do that now.
I’m in the auto-program now, and it’s giving different options for programming. “Reconfig All” “Detect New” etc. I was wondering which one I should run?
Thanks!
Try Detect New. Reconfig All will wipe the panel and start on a new config.
If I have the panel set as Card 4, then annunciator should be set as address 4, and the Baud rate at 9600. Correct?
Back to the Auto-Program, when I do Detect New, it says: “Polling Annunsiators” then like 1 second later it says “AutoProgram complete” then takes me back to the Auto-Program menu.
Do you know what that might be about? Or was it supposed to do that?
Yes, the address number and baud rate should be fine. Is the annunciator trouble still there?
Yes, the trouble is still there
Can you send a pic of the DIP switches on your 4606?
The red light wasn’t flashing before, but I guess it is now
Ok, I think your address switches might be backwards. For the Simplex annunciators, off means 1 or TRUE and on means 0 or FALSE.
Try this for the bigger DIP switch pack.
ON ON OFF ON ON ON ON ON → should be address 4
Should I do the same for the Baud switch? Because it still has the troubles and the annunciator says Communications lost with system’s master.
No, the baud rate switch should be fine. You might need to power cycle the panel to refresh things.
Is that just like a Warm CPU Restart?
Yeah, that or completely power down the panel.
I powered down the panel for roughly 10 sec and powered it back up, same issue.
Do you think there could be something wrong with the annunciator/panel?
Did you set the address switches to how I noted above?
Ok, how’s your S-Bus serial connections? Make sure the positive and negative are correct on each side.
In this case White is (-), Red is (+)
