7001/7002/WS candela rating question

As most of you probably know, the WS series of strobes are usually rated at around 1 candela. But a datasheet produced by Thorn says their peak intensity is 8000 candela!

This figure sounds like a typo. Where could it possibly have come from?

Candlepower (cp) is equal to about 0.981 candelas (cd), so I’m stumped too.

the old candlepower unit is equal to .981cd, nowadays 1 candlepower is considered 1 candela.

i have no idea how the datasheet is getting 8000 though. i’m guessing they’re using some formula relating wattage to candela, but doesn’t factor in what it’d be at 10 feet.
