First off the system has had many upgrades
here are the problems:
The horns most being electrometrical horns, red grill, and silver sound plate) and the simplex remote horns, are set to continuous. they sound like 7002t because of they have the same effect as a 7002t when the strobe flashes. There is no strobe so why is this happening.
is there a way of changing a STOPPER covers volume? I herd one today and it was really loud compared to the one a herd at a high school in Boise, Id
Do you know what specific model the horns were? Like ccs46 said, it could be a problem with the power running through the horns. Most electromechanical horns have been known to sound screwy when used with FWR voltage rather than filtered DC.
Do you know what panel your school uses? If it’s a Simplex panel, it most likely puts out filtered DC and may be a problem with the horns itself.
Ask your schools principal or custodian they should know most of that. Or just your principal they they should call Honeywell. I’m thinking, I watched one of Andrews videos earlier and his 2001 had a oiled filled capcitor and it was dried up so instead of DC it put out fulled rectified AC. Also if you can get us the model number there are some horns known to skip.
If they replaced the panel, why would the electrolytic capacitor be drained already? Andrew’s 2001 is 32 years old and it’s just now having that problem. A 2 or 3-year old panel would not have this problem. And (according to Destin when he first showed his IFP-1000), SK panels put out filtered DC. I don’t know about the 5808 or the 5820 but I’m guessing they put out filtered DC as well.
It could be the horns. Can you see if you can snap a photo of one?
Most Stopper II’s have one volume, LOUD!!! Almost all of them are extremely loud and maybe the one you heard in Idaho was running out of batteries or something…
My thought exactly… I mean, most often it the maintenance leads or district maintenance department chairperson that looks for a fire panel. That how we do it here, since we have a huge variety of panel brands in our district.
A gym teacher evacuated her class earlier this year thinking that the fire alarm was going off when the cover fell of and the fire marshal ordered the school to remove the buzzers since it could
So now, all expect one of our Stoppers (at a pull station know to be near the boy’s locker room and pulled almost on a daily basis last semester) no longer have the buzzer.
Putting my two cents into lilrags’ comment that their principal is a female dog, remember that principals usually do not have any control over what panel gets installed into a building. Am I angry that my school’s system has an MXL? No. Am I complaining to the principal to get it replaced with an E3? No. Silent Knight makes very high-quality panels that can protect buildings just as well as Simplex and Notifier, so why bother with the “SK hate?” There once was a time where Simplex was my favorite company, and I would revel at the thought of owning anything made by Simplex. Now that honor goes to Gamewell-FCI, as their systems are among the coolest I’ve ever seen. So why hate on Silent Knight?
Why, exactly do you hate your principal? Lots of principals yell at kids when they’re walking, mine does too. Bet she says “Walk and talk” just like every other principal on the planet…
And what’s wrong with SK? The IFP-1000 is a great panel, just ask Destin and Josh…
:? She just wants to ruin our lives.I mean, we have a “Uniform”, and next year she has made it so strict you couldnt were socks that even were pink for breast cancer awareness month
Have you had a huge SK panel almost break all your toes? Besides that, The SK panel in are school, along with the ghetto install job is dissepointing…
