Abused Silent Knight BG-12 discovered

My Dad was in the back yard and found this BG-12 in Mud. This was originally in a junk pile that someone made in the property being us which was all cleaned out about a 3 Weeks ago. I’m surprised that this Pull Station is still intact despite being covered in Mud. Plus not to mention it has rained a lot recently so I’m not sure if the Module will still work.

I’m gonna try to clean it up. If it doesn’t work then It’ll just be a display piece. If it works then I would be wrong about BG-12s being unreliable.

Here are the photos of the Abused BG-12.

Jeez, hope you can give that pull some much-needed TLC (heh)…who would just throw a bunch of stuff in a pile outdoors like that though?

Based on your second picture, it looks like the pull station has pigtail wires. The conventional PS-SA uses pigtail wires but the addressable SK-PULL-SA uses terminals, so I don’t think your pull station has a module to begin with.

Oh yeah! I didn’t notice that! I guess this could still work!

Ouch! That’s gotta hurt.

I know, right? I wouldn’t… And Juz the Jeez!

As I was cleaning the Pull Station I noticed that the Wires are in fact Pigtail Wires! So this is a PS-SA! At least there is no module that could’ve gotten ruined!

Also on the downside the Pull Station is caked with Mud on the Inside so the Sticker might be ruined. Plus the Pull Handle is Jammed.

Nah: it’ll take way more than mud to ruin that sticker I’m sure. As for the handle, that should be able to be easily unjammed, especially if you take the station apart, thoroughly clean it, & then reassemble it.

Update! I got the whole thing disassembled and cleaned and now it works!

That Crack is from getting run over by a Backhoe.

The Crack from getting run over and getting banged around.

Those Damaged Screw Terminal Slots are from getting Run over and from Getting tossed around when it was in the junk pile.

Those Scuffs and Scratches are from the rain, getting run over, the mud, and being buried underneath junk.

I guess I proved BG-12s are stronger than we thought. I guess these don’t need stopper covers to save them from Basketballs.

Unless a basketball hits it from an angle that causes the pull station to activate. Also, the situation might be different for addressable BG-12s.

They are built with Lexan plastic which is tough

Nice to know you succeeded in getting that PULL-SA back to its original beauty! Have you tested it to see if it works?

It does work! It still can activate Alarms and Activate Panels!

Great! Always nice when you can save a device that was otherwise overlooked or forgotten about like that!

How did the pull statin get there???

The same dude that saved my Wheelock NS left it in the property behind us. But because of all the rain, the BG-12 was burried in mud and dirt. And after 3-4 Weeks of sitting, my dad was able to salvage it.
