Advice on selling fire alarm equipment

I’ve been asked by my ex fire alarm engineer friend to sell all of his unused equipment. I’m pretty experienced with ebay but know little about this area and my friend has never even used ebay.

So I was wondering what advice you guys had. I was thinking that with something as important as a fire alarm system, their needs to be no doubt about the equipment you’ve bought, so what do you look for online to see how confident you can be about the items?

Or is ebay even the right way to go about this? All answers welcome

Ebay or the flea market section are the best ways I can think of. Depends on what you’re selling, older model stuff, new in box, etc.

You don’t have any older notification devices do you, from the '70s or '80s?

I run the website http://firealarmstore.com FireAlarmStore.com, and sell a lot of different new and used fire alarm components. So first of all, I’m always interested in purchasing equipment, so would it be possible to get a list of what you have for sale?

As for selling alarms on eBay, especially used equipment, buyers like to see good pictures of what’s for sale, that it’s been tested, and that they can return it if it doesn’t work.

Sure here’s what we have online so far (doesn’t look like we have any notification devices from the 70’s/80’s!).

We put a 14 day returns policy on all of them and there’s also the new eBay money back guarantee which helps.
And we put prices on all of them but most of them have a ‘best offer’ option too what with us being new to this and the market prices.

Ahh didn’t realize you were from the UK.

You may also want to specify the model number for each device in the listing’s title.

eBay is a good way to sell your alarms in your case. I know a few UK fire alarm enthusiast out their that would be interested. It’s going to take a while to sell ALL the equipment but you soon enough sell them all.

There, all listings now have the item code in the title.
I am from the UK but most of our sales are international at the moment.

@Gman: Any interest from UK fire alarm enthusiasts is much appreciated!

I was also wondering which category people tended to look for my sort of fire alarm equipment on ebay. I’m split between ‘Fire alarms and smoke detectors’ and ‘Industrial fire protection’.
