I am making a video on the history of Gentex fire alarms. I have most of the information I need however I have a few missing things. Most of this information is missing because the internet archive site does not work on Gentex’s site in the mid 2000’s.
Discontinuation year of the GOS and GOT (I know its either 1999 or 2000 but not certain which one)
Discontinuation year of the SPKE (The speaker strobes they sold in the 90’s)
Discontinuation year of the Commander 1 and GMS (Since the GMS used faraday horns, I can safely assume 2006 since that’s when Faraday stopped selling their own alarms, however I think there’s room for possibility the GMS was discontinued before that)
Any information you might know, or any recent date codes on your alarms would help a lot.
The SPKE series was discontinued in October/November 2006 by comparing this archive with this archive. However, at that point, the only SPKE models being produced were round ceiling non-strobe speakers. Here are some versions of the datasheet for reference:
October 2001 - contains both wall and ceiling speakers and speaker strobes
August 2002 - contains ceiling speakers and speaker strobes
That helps a lot. I looked into it deeper and it seems the GMS was discontinued 2003. I always thought the GMS was the last standing 90’s gentex alarm but it seems the ceiling mount SPKE is.
