My school has 3 spectralert classics, but Im still wondering if they are are legal anymore and also the fact that there is a pillar directly beside on which blocks the strobe.
Yes. As long as it doesn’t die. It depends on your Fire Code per State.
Is it a Temporary Construction wall? If not, You need to either Demolish the Pillar, or move the alarm.
its permanent and the strobes barely work
Is it allowed to have mixed signals? one on 3k and another on electromechanical, and some ssm-24-6 bells?
Ok. So the best thing to do is replace the alarm and not mount it near a pillar.
A diffrent coding on alarms is allowed but not near each other.
oh how bout the bell thingy
Is it a Class Change bell or a Fire bell?
Its a fire bell and its in same room with both the different coded spectralerts
they are all P2475rl for the spectralerts
Ok. So the diffrent coding in the same room will confuse people.
Is it allowed for mixed signals tho?
same building but mixed bells and horn strobes
As long as it’s not used technically you could still install a classic to this day they meet all current ada and NFPA requirements. They can sync and have a minimum candela of 15
Yeah: as Ryan G said as long as they all still work there should be no problem with leaving them in service: just because newer devices come along that succeed the old doesn’t mean that they have to be replaced ASAP (if anything usually only during major upgrades such as the panel getting replaced are the alarms usually updated as well).
when we have fire drills no one knew what the specctralert alarms meant because we only know what bells sound like
Well then they’ll just have to learn to recognize the sound of & get used to hearing horn/strobes I guess, since like I said as long as they work there should really be no need for replacement.
Yeah… Since my school alarms are the same, well yeah.
