Back mounting box for old Edwards pull station

Hi everyone,

New poster here looking for some help.

I bought a vintage Edwards pull station to use for an idea I had for a desk lamp (attempting to attach a photo — not sure of the model number). To pull off the idea I have in mind, I’m going to need a back box. This pull station I got came only with the face plate. I’m not even sure of the dimensions. I’m looking for a back box with the openings at the top and bottom I can run the lamp post through. Any ideas on the model number of the original back box or a modern one that this would mount to pretty evenly? Thanks!!

If that’s a coded edwards, I can assure you, even with the model number, you will not find a backbox easily like that. I’ve tried. They haven’t been made in at least 30 years, and they were specific to this station. You are much better off trying to find one on a back box to begin with.

You can make them fit onto some 3-gang weather boxes with a bunch of trickery, but it would be pretty ugly to use that as a lamp, it wouldn’t fit it perfectly, either.

Awesome idea!

A co-worker of mine converted an old Gamewell masterbox into a lamp, the thing looks great.

Are you gonna use the internal contact as the on/off? “pull all the way down and let go to light lamp”
