My MS has a few bad installation jobs. The alarms are normally Federal Signal SelecTone Speaker/Strobes in the hallways with Simplex speaker/strobes (posibly 9168s, i don’t know the exact number) in some of the major rooms. The classrooms have cieling mounted Simplex remote strobes that match the 9168s next to remote speaker only SelecTone speakers mounted on the ceiling over the door. A few of the classrooms have wall mount speakers that only say “Fire” next to the strboe, not on the sides. Some of the SelecTone speakers probably broke down. All the school did to replace them was pul ceiling mount Simplex strobes over the old SelecTones and put part of an outlet cover over the rest. Not only does it look bad, but you can’t hear the alarm as easily in those two (or more?) locations. Another thing is I saw one of the SelecTones with the strobe on upsidown. It was slanting downwards. The “Fire” lables were still put on properly.
