Here’s one I just remembered. My aunt & uncle’s condo has Space Age AV32’s with some kind of speaker under the plate, and Edwards 270-SPO pulls (They are rebranded by someone else, but I can’t remember which company). The building was built in 1982, so I think those are the original alarms. A few of the AV32’s seem like they’re about to fall off the backbox, and some of them have been painted white. One night, the fire alarm went off, and it did three rounds of slow whoop, then the Fire-Lite male voice evac message. As I was leaving my bedroom, I could hear a speaker, but I didn’t see it anywhere. I looked up, and saw one of those wall-mounted light fixtures with a fluorescent light recessed inside of a box. It was glowing red. After we went back in the building, I stood up on a chair to peek in the light fixture. Sure enough, there was an AV32 installed INSIDE of the light fixture! It definitely looked cool when the alarm went off, but that’s kind of a dumb place to put a fire alarm!
It kind of reminds me of the Star Trek TNG episodes when the ship would go into red alert, and red recessed lights would go on all around the ship. You couldn’t see the actual lights, but you could see their glow.
Id like to see some photos. This sounds made up. This would mean a low voltage line and 110V line are in the same back box. Not to mention that would be quite a large fixture.
