Just wondering I know BG-12’s are the standard for new installs but is the BG-8 or BNG-1R still permitted?
Nothing is really “Standard” Its really up to the company/client. Your question is pretty much like asking if the SIGA-278 is the standard over the SIGA-270.
To rephrase is that pull station still manufactured and used for new installs or is it discountinued.
The pull station seems to be still manufactured, as seen here: http://smurl.co/bg8buying
There are still a number of purchasing options from tons of suppliers/distributers.
They’re all over here at OSU. Even new Simplex 4100ES systems have them, but that’s likely because the university has a lot of new old stock BNG-1Rs. Notifier and Fire-Lite still list them on their site for conventional pull stations, but there was never an addressable version.
Yes, firelite has the BG-8 and BG-12 in their catalog. Some customers require metal pull stations and the BG-8 meets that requirement where the BG-12 doesn’t, so I don’t see it going away anytime soon unless they come up with some other replacement (which wouldn’t be the plastic BG-12).
