I was curious if you had the money and contacted simplex could you theoretically buy a new 4100es panel with true alert speaker/strobes, smoke, pulls .etc Would they sell it and make you sign a waiver? I understand that would be between 8-10k for a small setup. I love simplex and dream of owning a unit like that. I would not buy a used 4100, 4100u on ebay. Thanks for any input you may have.
Can you afford the service contract?
They wouldn’t sell you a system over-the-counter with no installation or service contract. Even if you had the means to purchase it, their accounting system isn’t set up for this type of transaction.
A few new-in-box 4100U systems have shown up on eBay from time to time. Remember that you’d need the software and dongle key to program it. I’ve heard that you can obtain a certification and dongle by completing a two week course and signing a liability waiver. You’d have to pay for the full cost of the class unless you work for a company that’s willing to cover it.
If you’re looking for a Simplex demo system that’s much more affordable and easy to program, I’d recommend the 4010.
I shall chime in on this…
This is from a email with my Simplex “Friend” …
After that, i highly doubt they would sell anything…
Does Simplex have 3rd party integrators? Or is it 100% in house?
Meaning?
If you mean do they ever subcontact?
This is part of the email chat;
As in do they have dealers, like other Tyco entities do (Software House/American Dynamics), that sell their systems.
Ansul and Grinnel maybe. SG can install DSC systems technically…
SG does everything in-house and proprietary – they do not resell to distributors. Similar to Otis Elevator.
But Boise’s is really small, hence why the hire sub contractors
They’ll hire an electrical sub to install it, but someone working directly for Simplex probably does the programming of the panel and the commissioning of the system, and the equipment is sold directly from the Simplex office, not through a 3rd party which would be a distributor.
If they used distributors you could probably get a panel through one with somewhat ease, but since they don’t I guess that option is out the window.
Yep
