I have a question about the “California” signalling option on FACPs.

It seems like California coding is some variation of 10 seconds on, 5 seconds off. http://firealarmresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/EST-EST1-2Z3+EST1-2Z6+Install+Program.pdf This EST1 Manual references two variations of California coding: Steady and March Time.

So, my question is: When would California coding be used? Was it California’s attempt at a standardized fire alarm signal?

I think it is California’s Code 3.

I know New Age Server Alarm did a older (like way back) system test video (New System Test 6, maybe) back in the day with a great example of California code. I would link to the video, however I am at school and YouTube is blocked. :?
