Can Elevator Recall Smoke Detector Also Serve Area

I have a question regarding the elevator recall smoke detector, can it also serve the protection function required by code just outside a bedroom, or must a separate smoke detector be placed right next to it for the bedroom protection.

I’m pretty sure that in most systems any smoke detector whether they’re configured for recall or not will also activate the fire alarm system if that’s what you mean (because besides recall what’s the point of having a smoke detector there if it doesn’t sound the alarm?).
