This might be kind of a stupid question, but I have a Fire-Lite MS-4424B coming soon, and I was wondering if I can put a smoke detector on the same zone as pull stations? Thanks!
I believe you can, but either will only activate the zone they’re hooked to once; you’ll have to reset the panel to get the other device to activate that same zone again. Make sure you’ve also got everything wired correctly as well (not to mention making sure that the panel & detector are compatible with each other).
Some systems can see an additional activation on the same zone in a way… for example, when I would work in the field and we’d do silent testing, we could usually hit a few smoke detectors, then hit a pull station, which of course causes a direct short, and drops power to those smokes. Indicates that the pull is working, and allows us to keep moving without a full reset.
Back to my initial comment, someone could usually acknowledge the panel after a smoke was hit, but if the panel then saw a short circuit from a pull station it would activate again even though it’s never been fully reset. Of course this varies from panel to panel.
Not all panels have a “resound” feature, that’s why I said that (I guess I assumed FireAlarmPerson’s MS-4424B is one of those without such a feature).
I don’t have the panel (Yet!) but I do not believe it has a “resound” feature.
