Hello all,
Greetings.
Found of 84 Trouble Signal in MFACP.
I would start by opening the circuit on that card to confirm it’s not a card malfunction and then i would open the circuit in different areas to isolate the short circuit.
thanks ohlongjohnson,
If I have opened the circuit on the card and there is no reset alarm, that means the card is multifunctional, is that correct?
When there is a short it prevents the devices from coming online. By isolating parts of the circuit(let’s say opening at center), then you can identify if short is before or after the open. Usually water or physical damage to a device is the cause.
It’s because of a device in the field is filled with water(for example), the voltage will be leaking through the ground on either side. This is why part of the trouble shooting is either looking for likely cause(for example part of the building ceiling flooded) or isolating the circuit in different areas until devices come back online and whatever is not would be the area where the issue is.
thanks ohlongjohnson,
I just separated the possible problems: card, cable from card to terminal, or device in the field.
I have disconnect all device in the field.
I try to connect with a new cable without connecting to terminal (without connecting with device), but the earth (-) alarm appears.
I’m just to see if the card is really broken?
If the card has an issue, the ground fault would remain with no field wires connected to it after a hardware reset. Depending on how the panel is setup you might have to login level 3 and do hardware reset from the diagnostic options on the panel. If it goes away your ground fault/short is down the circuit and you would need to isolate it by opening up sections of it.
thanks ohlongjohnson, I’ll try
