EDIT: I made the change. The new layout adds more categories, and simplifies the fire alarm and security systems sections a ton.

You’ll find that for the Fire Alarm categories, there are new tags that can be used to sort through topics that were originally broken out. Tags such as:

  • help
  • collection
  • media
  • user_media
  • guides_how_to

This change is pretty big considering some of those other categories were around since the forums creation. That said, the removed category with the most posts was ‘Fire Alarm Help’ which had 1771 topics in it. The rest were below 500 per category. This is remarkably low considering the amount of topics we have in the forums overall, so it feels like a justified move.

Hi all! While being basically unable to sleep tonight, my brain started thinking of ways we could clean up and potentially simplify the forums while also introducing some new categories that will allow more discussions around topics I feel many of you could be interested in. This is an open discussion for feedback. Would love to hear your thoughts:

Other Topics:

  1. Weather

  2. Radio

  3. Emergency Vehicles?

  4. Transportation?

  5. Electrical?

  6. Elevators and Escalators?

  7. Access Control / Building Automation?

Sounds good to me! I’m in favor of anything that can improve this site and make it more appealing to the masses
