I already have a 5820XL from 2004 with software Rev. 8 and am getting a 5700 manufactured in late 2012. I was wondering how to change the addressable protocol between Hochiki and System Sensor. Does anyone know how to do this? I read the manual several times and was unable to find any info on this.
Being an IFP-50 owner, I would too because I would much rather have a system sensor system than a hochiki based one.
@NJMoo3652: You should know that you can only switch protocols on software version 10 or higher. Most panels made in 2009 and after should have this. Also remember that Hochiki is less complicated than System Sensor because System Sensor’s module compatibility is like patchwork. Still, almost any standard module from System Sensor should still work.
Do you know if there’s any way to update the software on older panels? Mine was made in '03
If it is that old, you can only go up to certain revisions. To add System Sensor they needed to make some hardware changes so, you can only upgrade above 10 if it is 10 or higher. My panel was made in 2004 and has version 8.4 and I think it only goes up to 9. Hochiki protocol is simple and easier though. It’s not really a hinderance.
Ok, by reading the manual I figured out that the selection is made in misc. settings.
