Cool things you have done with fire alarms.

I decided to make a new topic for people to share what they have done with fire alarms.

Ill start.

I have hooked up a specter alert classic for April fools day to the doorbell with a latching circuit with a reset button that is hidden in my room.

I would love to see what some of you have done too!

I’ve… ahem accidentally hooked up a Genesis to 120 VAC. XD

hooked a SAE 2dcd to my alarm system. No more Mr. BadGuy

So I’m not the only one who hates them! xD

I once brought a Federal 350 to my Physics class last year, because we had to do a presentation on a device that uses electromagnetism. I was partners with my (ex) girlfriend and while working on the presentation at her house she was constantly terrified it was going to go off  .

lol

Wired a U-MMT horn set on single stroke chime to a Clapper so every time someone clapped it would ding.
However every time someone said a bad word it also dinged, for some weird reason.

Probably due to the fact that you usually yell when you swear, and/or how “sharp” and short the word is, makes it enough to trip whatever senses the clap.

What, have subject pronouns gone out of style all of a sudden? :stuck_out_tongue:

Me and 4j25 scared a pizza guy with mechanical horns and beacon lights.

Did you tip him, at least?

Fun things Ive done:

  • Used a beam detector as a “security system”. If someone blocked the beam (like opening a door) the NACs would fire
  • Programmed a “light show” with a bank of 30 SpectAlerts (some with color covers) and control modules
  • Had my panel programmed to cook me toast every morning! Its me biggest selling feature…

You damned well better have tipped the guy well… Probably had to go change his draws before he went to the next house. xD

He was cool about it Too!

I would have never though he would be. xD

Any chance we’ll see that feature in the S3s or E3s now?

When I was in tech support I had to stay up to date on the capabilities of the systems. A feature in 4100 audio systems is the ability to build custom audio messages using the voice phrases in the chipset in the panel. I thought about what I could do that was interesting. I programmed a 4100 speak the hour machine by creating custom messages and programming the times to play them.

A side benefit was that it annoyed some people.

Used a -9833 to use as a car horn for a wedding procession to the reception.

Used multiple alarms for NYE. (Andrew and several others have also.)

Made my -9833 “sound” by placing my Galaxy S4 on the mechanism and triggered the vibration, see my YT vid.
