This is a satellite view of my church. the devices pictured represent the approximate location each device is installed in.
If some of the extra text is confusing…
The foyer, which is the little jut out at the top of the picture, contains one I3 smoke and one FCI MS6 pull.
The front hall to the left has several I3 smokes and one MS6 pull with an advance horn strobe above it. the hall also contains a room with the silent knight sk-2 fire panel.
The rear hall to the left has several I3 smokes, two MS6 pulls, and a wheelock 7002T.
The rear hall to the right has several I3 smokes and one MS6 pull.
The front hall to the right has several I3 smokes, one MS6 pull, and one 7002T above it.
If the system needs improvement, what can be done to improve it?
note: I am not a fire alarm tech.
Well, considering how lacking the system is, I would say it should be completely scrapped and the whole building (and maybe that other terrible building) should be retrofitted with a new up-to-code system.
That’s what would be done ideally. Unfortunately, they probably won’t bother.

Elephant in the room: is this building sprinklered?
There is not a single sprinkler.
I’ve never been to a church that had a sprinkler system.
Yeah no sense in doing that unless it’s a real emergency and they have the funds for it, I think the existing system is fine as long as it works
Got it. How big is the sanctuary, and does it have a PA system?
There is a really old church right by the St.Nicholas church in Gig Harbor that still has lead paint and no sprinkler system. My grandparents installed smoke detectors in that church since it has no fire protection but it is one of the Preserved historical buildings.
Yeah, I think it’s unfortunate that the most historical buildings that we card the most about tend to have the worst fire protection.
