Devices Saved from Renovation

I acquired a bunch of devices from a renovation job at a local apartment complex that we took part in. Not the largest haul I’ve ever gotten, but still happy with what I got. I didn’t save all devices however, there were quite a few System Sensor i3’s I passed on since I have enough of them already.

They are:

1x Fire Lite MS-5UD.

I put the panel into storage before I got a picture of it. It’s going to need some love to get it working again, and since it’s currently the newest panel in my collection, it’s not a high priority. Once I do get it working I’ll probably send it down the line to make room for more worthy panels.

3x SAE 2DCD horns on SAE AV32 w/backboxes. The building these devices came from was built in 1975, these are also dated October 1975. I thought the early AV32’s made around this time had the glossy, untextured plastic as opposed to the later generations that does. These are confirmed to be from 1975, so I wonder when the true design changes came. Horns work great, they’ll need relamping though.

5x Gamewell Century M46-23, the older model that uses the 3/32 allen key. I didn’t actually have any Centurys in my collection until now, they’re a lot lighter than I thought they’d be. I did unfortunately break two of the breakrods when reassembling after cleaning, fortunately there was an extra breakrod inside one of the stations.

Nice acquisitions! I have both of those devices pictured and they’re great! The only thing about the m46-23 is the back is made of aluminum which means its very easy to deform

You saved these, wow. You oughta be a part of the Anti-Fire Alarm Trashing Police with this right here.

Helps that I’m an electrician that has several ties to other local fire/security companies and electrical contractors, as well as being in the right place at the right time.

I do try my hardest to save as many old devices as possible, with mostly good success. I have let a bunch of devices slip through my fingers, oddly enough both involving Simplex 2001’s.

I DO! why is nerdy ah?

I can’t help it if I am a fire alarm nerd lamoooo

I also wouldn’t have thought they made the 450’s with the vandal-resistant grilles as early as 1975, but I could be wrong.

Finally got around to triaging the MS-5UD, works great. As mentioned above, I’ll probably offer it for sale at some point since it’s a lot newer that what I deem worthy for my collection, I’d rather it’s space go to a 4208 or something. Only thing wrong is it doesn’t have the battery harness.
