Does anyone have pictures of a Firecom 8500?

Yeah: let’s just hope then that someone can successfully find & save them! (& hopefully also find that they’re in full working order too!)

According to a friend of mine the initial photo Nick posted in this topic is of an Edwards/EST IRC-3, not a Firecom 8500, so I guess the hunt for even a mere picture of one is still on.

A CRT can be referenced in the following patent: US4342985A - Remote sensing and control system - Google Patents

I’m a bit new to this mystery, so please bear with me if my information is inaccurate.

Thanks for the information, and welcome to the forums!

Thanks! Happy to provide!

Here’s a possible photo of the desk-mount variant of the Firecom 8X. Credits to @Gary_Scott for finding this.

EDIT: It could also be a Comtrak 1720.

I also just realised this and I have never thought about this up until now…

Firecom 8X systems are basically wired the same way as your everyday security system! Just on a way larger scale. Security systems have a main box that is the brains of the system that has terminals for connecting devices to it. The “control panel” of an 8X connects the same way to a Terminal Transmitter Box (the brains of the system) as a security keypad would do.

And Radionics fire alarm systems wire the same way too. So I guess that Firecom had seen how security systems wire up and based their 8X systems off of that. Just a guess based on an observation.

Yeah, you might need to bring a 1-ton pickup truck with a tommy gate if you want to get one of those out of a building!

Well that’s because a firecom 8000 seems to be a multiplex fire alarm system. You have a central panel, and remote transponders that have the circuits for zones and outputs. Stuff like ademco vista panels also use multiplex with remote transponders and everything.

That’s kinda what I said here but different.

Just to keep the thread going here are some random-ass pictures of old Firecom logo crap I found on archive.org lamo

Funny how those seem to just have white-on-black adhesive labels with “FIRECOM” written on them applied (rather than a proper logo sticker).

Yes, exactly. Tho I understand the Sigcom one being like that.

I took screenshots of the entire patent diagram.

That might actually be the best look we get at the 8500 at this rate.

I still desperately whant to get my hands on one. It is definitely my holy grail. Finding one in an abandoned building outside NYC is my best bet on finding one.

That’s a Firecom LSN-2000, as indicated by the lettering near the bottom of the door window, which is a much newer & much more common panel than the 8500 (the latter might look something like it for all we know however).

I thought we confirmed that it was this?

As far as I know, it’s an IRC-3 (a very customized one, at least).

I believe there’s been a few folks who finally confirmed this.
