Does anyone know if the California horn code (10 seconds off, 5 seconds) is still required in California or has the requirement changed to Code 3 like everywhere else?
I’m pretty sure California is required to use temporal code 3 like everyone else (at least with new systems: with old systems I think it’s up to the AHJ, also like everyone else).
Was California code required in California at any point? Was it ever required or used anywhere else?

I believe I’ve read that California Code was used in California at one time, but my guess is that with NFPA 72 denoting temporal code 3 as the official evacuation pattern in 1996 that California phased California Code out in favor of code 3.
