Eastern Michigan University building RARE Active Simplex System

Yes you heard me right. This system is still in service. Contains a system of 1 White Simplex 2901-9839 (black diaphragm) Dual Action T-Bars and a bunch of ceiling mounted Simplex 2904 lights. They also had one White Siemens Mechanical Horn. And 1 Faraday Remote Strobe.

Wow those devices are RARE!!! Good find.

That is awesome! But I can never understand why places put wall mount strobes/lights on the ceiling.

Wow, that white-colored Simplex horn sure is rare, great find!

That’s probably because they were put in place before regulations started requiring specific ceiling-mount NAs.

That horn looks beige to me

During my time at EMU, I had never been in that building, so it’s a fascinating find that you were able to document!

I was the one who discovered it, took Seth there and he got pics

thast really cool it woukd be cool to see it in alarm

Another system destined for a fire museum!

Should be, or for a collection, but unfortunately with companies removing older systems they usually throw them out like they’re not even worth anything smh.

actually, I believe some companies turn all the old stuff in as scrap metal

They’re worth more than just the metal content that is for sure.
