So I like to play fire alarm testing games on Roblox. One of the modules is called an “Exit sign activator,” which makes the exit signs flash when the system is in alarm. I’m just wondering if this is a real product or just a fictional Roblox device.
I’m not sure how it works, but I know I have seen it in real life. My elementary school from 1994 had exit signs with black plastic bodies and brushed aluminum face plates with green direct-view LED’s. The building has a backup generator so they are all AC only. When the fire alarm went off, all of the exit signs started flashing (looked like around 120BPM). I am not sure how they did this.
They are most certainly a real thing. While I haven’t seen any before, I have seen videos of them in action before.
AC exit signs would be easy you just run the hot wire through the NC on a relay and then code the relay to 120bpm when the panel goes into alarm however, that would not work on battery exit signs because they would just transfer over to battery, but on central battery exit sign systems it would be fairly easy.
