I think we should have an exit sign category since we have a emergency light category.

I mean, the Emergency Lighting category already has a bunch of exit sign posts, and it does allow them in their description:
“…conversations about ELS, Flood Lights, Exit Signs, etc…”

Please use the Emergency Lighting category.
