I have a old Fci panel ver 6.03 , the Tech was out and tried up upload program , he had version 7.03 and could not do , he says another tech needs to come out with cam-works program and wants to bill more hours.
I have no experience with FCI panels, but I do have a lot of experience with 4100 panels of every generation, classic, plus, U, and ES. Each version of master controller software had a matching version of the programmer. I had many versions of 4100 programmers in my computer. The same was true for 4010 systems.
It is just good business sense that a technician should have the various versions of programmer software for the panels he services. These days this is as basic as having the correct screwdriver. I know there are instances where a tech will come across a panel for which he does not have the correct programmer. In that case the tech should have the capability to download what he needs from the work site. That could be done by using the customer’s internet connection, an air card, a cell phone hot spot, or even an old fashioned modem. I had rare occasions that I had to download a programmer version that for whatever reason I did not have. I always found a way to get what I needed from the work site and complete the job.
