As one of the best bday presents ever I received this federal signal vibratone 350 B1 with the newer dual projector horns made for the 450E horns.
Made entirely of plastic it does feel quite light and looks different than the older PR2s. While this has absolutely no markings on it whatsoever, it does include a hole in the bottom of the plate to allow water to drain out, like as customary to the other projectors from federal signal, with this one being larger and it’s placement is unfortunate because it is just misaligned with the Grill mount volume screw the horn has, which lead me to get creative and open the hole with some careful grinding. I have not tested this horn yet but I hope it sounds awesome
I would also like to note how similar the B1 series mechanisms are even through years of production. In the left of the image is my oldest B1, the B1 with the color matching projector, which sounds the best without it. The middle is my seemingly second oldest, although not that old, and it sports a rather cheaper almost design with it lacking the deeper tone a common B1 has, and it also has a few problems, one being the volume screw threads got destroyed and so very few remain. The one on the right is for the modern dual projector and it’s dated 2022 date of production, it’s main difference out of any of them is the fact that it has a front volume screw, it lacks the circle washer that is underneath the striker plate on the other 2, it’s sounder disc is unpainted, the volume screw has a Torx head inside the bolt and they now paint over the back of the diaphragm during production.
