“We have all gathered around today to…”

“someone here is possessed by an owl”

I was fed up with those cheap stickers that are legally inaccurate in many places, so I thought I’d make this meme.

I got to post the one at my school, it says up to 2 Years in Prision and a $10,000 Fine. Which is super wrong .

Sometimes I think pull stations need really clear and serious signage since it’s kinda like pressing the self destruct button.

Playing with firefighting equipment is playing with fire.

Time for another meme.

Those are pretty much the only places that I have ever seen the S8 used in person.

I’ve always seen Walmarts have a separate speaker system for music and announcements while the fire alarms are SpectrAlert Advance horn strobes.

Some have voice systems & with those everything goes through the fire alarm speakers (though according to one person some Walmarts have stopped doing this for whatever reason).

Walmart has been trying to improve the sound systems in their stores. They have been replacing the sound systems in stores without voice evac by removing the old sound system and putting in a new one. In the ones that have the Safepath setup, they have been installing the new speakers alongside the speaker/strobes and disconnecting the speaker/strobes from the music. This way, the speaker/strobes still work as fire alarms but the music now comes through the higher quality speakers.

Don’t know why: I’ve been to a few Walmarts that had music-playing voice systems & the audio quality seemed just fine to me (especially given the size of the S8 speaker/strobes such Walmarts use, since the bigger the speaker the better the audio quality (or at least I think that’s the case).

This is kind of a weird one, but this is what you get when a Canadian defunct animation studio merges with Fire-Lite to create an animation studio/fire alarm company:

And Honeywell would later acquire the merged Silent Knight Tristar Pictures.

Seriously, what was Gentex thinking?

I for one don’t mind that design of speaker/strobe (though it’s looked different since around 2007 or so when Gentex updated the design to what it is today), even if that particular one appears to be mounted sideways going by the way the reflector is facing.

I also find it interesting that the one before that (at the top-left corner) uses a nearly (if not outright) identical speaker to some Wheelock signals like the ET-1070-series (the strobe is also somewhat similar even if it’s not identical). You don’t suppose Gentex once had a partnership of sorts with Wheelock do you? (Simplex did for the strobes on some of their 4903-series strobe plates)

I know that some people have mentioned that early devices from many brands seem to use strobes that have an almost identical design to the early Wheelock strobes.

Considering Wheelock was supposedly the first-ever maker of signals with strobes (in North America/the US at least) that might make sense: other manufacturers likely would have had little-to-no experience with strobe-making so why not instead buy them from a company that does have experience?

The bottom one is a floor mount Gentex device!!!
