I can affect one’s school life in a negative way. Instead of focusing on the schoolwork, a student will be focusing on when the next fire drill will be.

I had that phobia, but up to a point. If I didn’t know when the alarm was gonna sound, I would be fine. If I did because somebody accidentally let it slip, I would probably freak out.

Same with me. Except when the principal announced it. One time in December 2012, the principal announced it and I FREAKED out. In fact, I hid under my desk shaking like crazy. :shock: :shock: :shock: :shock:

Sorry if you’ve posted this before, but, out of curiosity, what alarms does your school have?

I used to be terrified of the fire alarm. I hated being in school for the longest. I would try to avoid walking under horns and if I had to, I would cover my ears. Luckily, we had exterior doors that we would use for a fire drill. As I got older, I began to fear the alarms less and less.

Simplex Truealerts. The classroom and halls echo badly in my wing.

Speaking of Simplex TrueAlerts, there is a store at my local mall the has three TrueAlert horn/strobes in a small room-sized store at the mall, one by the store entrance, one on the wall in the middle of the store and one at the other end of the store. Why does that store have three Simplex TrueAlerts? Surely one would do.

Used to be scared to the devil about fire alarms. If I knew the drill was happening, I would freak. Any time they even went off, I would freak out until we got outside. I had it pretty bad but am glad I developed an interest!

I like the sound of fire alarms. Its just that anticipation that kills me. Though I probably would be fine if I was outside listening to the horns instead of inside.

Yep! I would rather be at outdoor gym when the alarm goes off.

I’ve asked my teacher to duct tape the truealert in our classroom.

Really? Is your teacher going to do it? Did you know that Simplex actually sells little stickers to put over the piezos as an accessory?

EDIT: This can be helpful in preventing that direct aim at ears, lol.

A few of the classrooms that I had classes in had horns but as long as I didn’t know there was gonna be an alarm, I was fine. I did sit as far away from the horns as possible.
