Fire Alarm System Standby Batteries

For those who own panels, what kind of standby batteries do you use? I need to get new batteries for my demonstration system and I’m looking for a better alternative than what I have used in the past. Previously I have used Werker brand batteries from Batteries Plus. They are currently the most affordable but are starting to get pretty expensive. They don’t last that long either.

Anybody have any recommendations for a better source of batteries?

We use werkers, powersonics, or duracells in all our customer panels. should last 2-3 years.

All from Batteries Plus or ADI.

The last couple of companies I’ve worked for used Universal with mixed results. Seems like some we get a good 5 years out of the batteries, but then run into those far too often that we load test after a year and they fail. I’ve personally had good results with Yuasa (which is now Genesis). The alarm for my house and a couple of UPS units I have, I’ve used those and they’ve lasted for their 5 year lifespan.

Thanks for the input. Are you referring to Genesis NP batteries? Those seem like a pretty good option, if they do work well.

Yes, the NP7-12 is what I currently have installed in my alarm system. Been there since Jan 2012.
