For the rare devices my school had 3 Wheelock 7002t alarms on the crazy plate you can mount it on
And 2 fire lite bg 6 pulls in the gym
And a 1st generation Gentex SHG
For the non rare devices there was many many many spectralert classics including a broken one, many many firelite bg 12Ls
And a few Siemens HMS pull stations
And one Gentex commander 3rd gen
And all of the smoke detectors were firelite C4W-BA I3 smokes
And some heat detectors I don’t even know the model of
My elementary school had common alarms
Same here
My school had more bg 12 devices and spectralerts than rare devices
Guys By the way i told my local fire alarm company about the broken Spectralert
My Elementary school had an old simplex system from the 90s.
The main panel was a simplex panel, I never could figure out the panel since it was hidden from public view (It was in the office hallway.)
The Horn/Strobes consisted of 4903-9101’s, all on steady. A random newer 4903 electric horn was also in the hallway.
The strobes consisted of 4904 remote strobes.
The smoke detectors consisted of 9208-9201s in the hallways.
The Pulls where Simplex T bars (I don’t remember the model). Many of them had break glass covers.
A siren tone would also play over the intercom during an alarm activation.
My elementary and middle school only used the Classics with Notifier BG-12’s all over. The BG-12’s were addressable too.
I have a addresable BG 12
I have an addressable bg-10 and a addressable gamewell century
I beleve the model number for the break glass T bars is 4251-30 but I could be wrong
my elementary school had this odd pyrotronics-simens system that kept going off for no reason
My Elementary school is Cedar Creek Elementary School in East Bethel Minnesota back in 2006 notification appliances
Wheelock AS-24-MCW in Hallways and Classrooms
Even a Wheelock NS in the Copy Room and Outside Simplex 2901-9838 and Pull Stations Johnson Controls JBG12LX and Panel Simplex 4002
OMG my Elementary was ceader creek it was in KC tho
Gamewell E3 Voice Evac system, equivalent of SD-355 smokes, spectralert classic speaker strobes, a bg-12LX in the principals office, and before the school was built on to, there was a Gamewell sentry in the kindergarten exit area. In the addition, there are the same smokes, and the pull station spot was moved to the door going out, and was replaced with a BG-12LX that from what I have heard from my siblings, has been pulled before. The NAs are Spectralert Advance SPCWs. Also around the school, there are spectralert advance remote strobes in the bathrooms, secretary’s office, and some other locations. There is a Spectralert Horn strobe outside the front.
My School has system sensor spetra aler classics and some notifire nbg-10 pull stations
and some nbg-12 pulls
My elementary school has a newer Notifier system (NFS-320?). However, the signals and pulls were leftover from the original system (which appeared to be Edwards). Signals are mostly Wheelock 7002T-24s, with a Wheelock NS in the Kindergarden, and a SpectrAlert Classic horn/strobe outside. There is also a grey Wheelock 700X horn/strobe that was used as a sprinkler alarm outside. Pulls are Edwards 270SPOs with the “Local Alarm” wording. I believe there were Edwards/Chemtronics heat detectors as well. Signals were all on continuous, I can still remember how loud the 7002Ts were.
It’s been over a decade since I last stepped foot in that school, but I have reason to believe the system remains the same as I remember it. Other schools in the district have Notifier panels with the existing devices kept.
My first school was some addressable Fire Lite voice evac system, I didn’t know what the panel was because it was in an electrical room. The voice panel was either a Wheelock SPMNS or a Fire Lite ACC 25/50 or ECC50/100 (I forgot the voice message it used). there was an ANN 80 (possibly more). Pulls are BG-12LXs. There were 2 white Wheelock exceders (one in the old building and one in the new building stairwell). The speaker strobes were Wheelock E90-2415Cs. The smokes were Fire Lite SD355s and SD350s.
School #2 was a Fire Lite MS-9200UD, with a NAC booster panel and a power supply panel. the smokes were Fire Lite SD355s. The pulls were bg-12LXs. The system also had some Potter water flow detectors in the gym. The notification appliances were red System Sensor Spectra Alert Classic horn strobes with some Classic remote strobes in the restrooms and classrooms (wall mount), one classroom randomly had a Wheelock horn strobe (forgot the model)(wall mount) next to a Classic which was weird because it was in the new building, I had some of my friends tell me that it would go off in during fire drills, and there where 2 system sensor L-Series in the hallway and one classroom had a Classic horn strobe (ceiling mount). Sadly this school got torn down recently.
School #3 (last school). The school has 2 buildings and portables.
School #3 (System #1) Panel: Notifier NFS-640 with DVC and NCA2 or 3030 with DVC.
in this building there were 2 smokes (only because of the elevator) the rest was monitored by sprinklers, And only one pull (located in the office)
Pull: NBG-12LX
Smokes: FSP 851 and FSP 851R.
Notification appliances: (White) (ceiling mount) Sensor Spectra Alert advances (speaker strobe) and (White) (ceiling mount) System Sensor L-Series (strobe only) and outside of the panel/electrical room was a (White)Spectra alert advance (Strobe only).
School #3 (System #2).
Panel: Notifier NFW2-100.
Pulls: NBG-12LXs
Smokes: NP-100s, and 2 System Sensor BEAM detectors (in the gym)
Notification Appliances: Wheelock ZNSs (red) (wall and ceiling mount), and 2 Wheelock ASs (red) (1 ceiling mount and one wall mount).
School #3 (System #3)
Panel: Silent Knight Model 6700.
Pulls: Fire-Lite BG-12Ls (hex key)
Smokes: Silent Knight SD505-APS and a SD505
Notification Appliances: (red) Wheelock ASs (wall mount) ( horn strobe), and (white) System Sensor L-series (horn strobe).
I was at the 3rd school during an annual test and the NFW2-100 failed inspection because some NACs didn’t work and some NBG-12LXs would not activate.
Sorry about the long post.
I went through 3 different elementary schools so I will put what I know about the first two and about everything in the 3rd one.
Elementary one: unknown panel, smokes/heats, and pull stations. Gentex Commander 4s and either 1s or 3s.
Elementary two: unknown panel, smokes/heats. Fire-lite Bg-12s for pulls and SpectrAlert Classics for signaling.
Elementary three: Simplex 4001 for panel, Simplex 4251-20s and Edwards 270-SPOs for pulls, Simplex TrueAlarm smokes and System Sensor mechanical heats, and 2904-9101 strobes paired with 2901-9840 horns. There is a dead 9840/9845 outdoors as well and Genesis xenon ceiling mount horn strobes in the additions and LED wall mount Genesis in one add on room.
My school district also goes by that standard.
I used to go to a Catholic school in Akron, Ohio that was built in the mid 50s. For the original fire alarm system, it had an IBM 4200 or 4240 with 10 inch single stroke bells as the signaling devices; the only initiating device was an actuator switch (a standard light switch) connected to a manual pull rod with trip gongs attached to it. The pull rod was removed in 2018 (when I started seventh grade) but the signaling devices, actuator switch and trip gongs are still in place. I’ll have to ask the maintenance manager if I can salvage those devices since they’re disconnected.
The actual fire alarm system was an EST 2 installed in the early 2000s with 278s and Integrity series horn strobes (757-7/8A-T) along with single gang strobes (202) in the restrooms. The second semester of my sixth grade year is when they replaced the EST 2 with an iO series panel. The class change bells were IBM 6 inch bells that were the semi-flush model (those bells are still in use as of this writing).
My elementary school had an Edwards 6500, original to the building since it’s opening in 1979, and Edwards 333-D 10" Single Stroke Bells at March Time. There were only 2 bells that were 10" Edwards 439Ds instead.
In Grade 5, or around 2005 for me, they decided to replace the system over the summer. The new and current system to this day, is a Mircom FX-2000, with Mircom FHS-240 Horn/Strobes, they left everything else the same. They did add an extra horn/strobe in one wing for added audibility.
