Fire-Lite MS-2 Conventional Fire Alarm Control Panel

This is my first post, so sorry for any mistakes. Anyways, I have bought an MS-2 on ebay and was wondering if this panel puts out FWR or FDC? and what alarms will work with it. And how many things can you have hooked up to it at once. Thanks, NOTIFIERgeek

The MS-2 puts out FWR power. Most alarms should work, but stay away from Simplex devices, as some will fry on FWR.
I would recommend you read this post as well: <URL url="So you want to buy a FACP...]So you want to buy a FACP...]

As MTT stated, the MS-2 puts out FWR power, so devices must be compatible with that type of power.

The answers to your other questions are in these manuals.
https://www.firelite.com/CatalogDocuments/15384.pdf (Device Compatibility)
http://www.firelite.com/CatalogDocuments/51512.pdf (MS-2/4 Installation & Operation)

Keep in mind that the Device Compatibility manual covers all Firelite panels. So you have to search around for the ones compatible with the MS-2.

As for how many devices can be connected, it depends on the device. The compatibility manual shows how many of each type smoke detector can be connected to an IDC. Contact type devices (pull stations, mechanical heat detectors, sprinkler devices) do not draw any power so do not have to be considered in the calculation.

For the NAC it has to be figured out. The MS-2 NAC is rated for 2.5 amps. In practical application the load should be limited to 80% or 2 amps. How many notification appliances can be connected is controlled by how much current they draw. If an appliance draws 250 mA, eight can be connected. If an appliance draws 100 mA, twenty can be connected. This applies to special application appliances that are rated to work with the panel. Non compatible appliances should be connected in much fewer number to avoid overloading the NAC.

The installation manual has the details on how to wire up and program the system. Follow the manual. Most panels get blown up by mistakes such as incorrect wiring or making connections with the panel powered up. The screwdriver or a bare wire only need to touch the circuit board once to smoke it. Always power down before making any connections.

Thank you for all the helpful information! I have found all the answers to my questions.

Thanks for the info! I appreciate it.
