Fire Lite MS-4 transformer issue

Hi, I am having an issue with my Fire Lite MS-4. Whenever I press the ACK or the ALARM SILENCE buttons, the AC light will turn off and there is a click from the transformer. If I wiggle the panel a bit, it will fix itself and the ac light will come back on. For example, when the system is in alarm I press ACK and the transformer clicks, AC light turns off, Panel beeps in trouble, and the alarms stop sounding until I move the panel a bit to fix it. Please help.

Is it a used panel? If so, that may be the reason it was pulled from the building.

In about 45 years in electronics I can’t remember ever hearing a transformer click. Not saying it can’t happen, just never to me.

The clicking noise could be made by relays transferring. You said it goes into trouble which would transfer the trouble relay. A bad solder joint at the transformer connector pins could cause an arc which can sound like a click.

Worst case might be a cracked main circuit board. That could break several circuit traces which would explain a lot of what is going on. Pushing a button would flex the board slightly causing the circuits to break. Moving the panel could put the board back to a position where the circuits make again.

Ah, I see. So it may not be the transformer clicking but could be because of trouble relays or the circuit board itself. May have been something during shipping or something to do with it being used when I got it. Thanks for the help :D. Might invest into buying a new board if it is worth it, or try to fix it myself.

Had this EXACT same problem with the MS-2 I owned for a couple months. I just ignored it, as everything came back on after a second and the panel continued to work fine, but I sold it before it could give me anymore problems.
