Fire Panel Keeps Blinking

My friend recently got a new job to manage a labor accommodation facility in the middle east. He inherited the facility with constant blinking (faults) of the fire alarm system. The company that installed the system say it is due to the dusty environment. This makes no sense as the alarms are indoor, yes there is the occasional dusty days but that’s outside. We are trying to prove that the faults are due to some other reasons and get the company back to fix it. The fire alarms are designed against EN54-7/EN54-17.

Before buying the standard, wanted to know if there is anything in there that discussed limitations of airborne particles (dust).

It is really impossible to offer opinions on this without more information.

What is the make and model of the panel?

If it has a simple display with just LEDs, what are the legends by the flashing LEDs?

If it has an alphanumeric display, what are the troubles(?) indicated in the display.

The company could be correct. Dusty conditions outside will get inside. This could be caused by dirty smoke detectors but without more information we cannot be sure. I once had a location where the panel was in the office but I had to clean the inside of the front panel window with a Q-tip to be able to read the display.

The smoke detector is a BHH-300 from Autronica.
The panels are autroprime 2 loops (also from Autronica)
The system is autromaster onshore edition (also from Autronica)

The smoke detectors are cleaned periodically, so they never allow them a chance to build up dust. On one occasion (a week ago), a new detector was installed and the fault started 30 minutes after installation.

I’ll try to get more information on the panel faults.

The best way for us to possible help you, would to be to possible take a picture of video of the panel with the lights flashing, so we could better identify what could be possibly wrong.

(I am not a Certified Alarm Technician, so I can not give instructions on how to correct the issue, only possible issues. Do not touch or mess with a life safety system without proper certification or clearance.)
