My Firelite bg-12’s pull plate (The thing you pull) in making me think it will fall off, and it seems to have a faulty spring. Is there any way to solve this?
You think the spring’s broken? Here’s how you can fix it:
1.) Find a spring of similar size and tension
2.) Take the old spring out
3.) Put the new spring in
In all seriousness, try checking the part that extends to the bottom of the pull. Other than the spring, I don’t know what would cause it to become unaligned.
EDIT: The spring may not be removable. My alarms are in storage right now, so I cannot check this.
The BG-12’s pull plate is normally very loose in the station. It sits within a few guide tracks and hangs from a single spring at the top. This allows the entire piece to be pushed in when the station is to be activated.
There is also a smaller latch piece near the bottom of the pull handle that contains a small spring. It is possible that this spring has come loose or the retaining brackets for the latch have cracked off. When the station is open, you may not easily notice these issues so check that area closely to see if any of the aforementioned problems exist.
All springs on the BG-12 are easily removed, no worries there ![]()
Its actually possible to take the whole thing apart piece by piece without unfastening anything.
