Hello y’all,
I am currently at an Airbnb, and noticed that one of the combo alarms in the downstairs hallway is flashing on and off every 2 seconds on the smoke indicator (alarm latch).
I was wondering if the alarm will still activate should smoke or CO conditions arise? I don’t really want to test the alarm to reset the latch since it is not my home.
Yea, my theory is that some prior guest set the detector off.
I was a bit concerned it was a prior CO activation, since I had gas appliances operating, however the manual seems to say that the CO indicator would be flashing in the latch pattern.
Yes it should. If it stopped detecting smoke or co then that could create a dangerous situation where if someone doesn’t reset the alarm, it would render the alarm useless. If you want a confirmation I can ask one of my friends to create this scenario.
With what information I could find, the feature is designed to indicate what smoke alarm was an initiating device and that an alarm event had occurred. There is no information to suggest that the detector must be reset in order to detect smoke or co. If a reset was required, there would need to be labeling that state how to reset the alarm. (Later this week I will try and have one of my friends test this, though it’s not guaranteed)
