First Alert SC9120B Constantly Beeping When Powered Up

As a collector, I own a First Alert SC9120B Smoke and CO Alarm.

However, when I apply power to it, such as a 9V battery, it does a continuous beep. It is not that regular T3 or T4 pattern you hear when it’s in alarm, it isn’t neither the detector malfunction signal (3 chirps), the end of life signal (5 chirps), nor the low battery signal, just a solid beep and it doesn’t stop until power (or battery) is disconnected.

What does this mean? Is my detector broken?

I think its time to see the manuel.

No,

That sounds like it’s broken, take the battery out of it, and when the battery has been removed, press in the “test” button, as most smoke alarms have some energy in a capacitor in the unit.
So, press that, it should make a very faint beep, and keep pressing until there is no more faint beeps
If this doesn’t work, it sounds like the alarm is screwed up.

I don’t think SC9120Bs have dying sounds.

It’s screwed up, so it’s stuck
