FPLP v.s. FPLR

Whats the difference?

FPL is for general purpose fire alarm wiring. FPLP is for plenum use, meaning that it is designed to be run in air ducts or other spaces where environmental air is pressurized. FPLR is for riser use, meaning any wire that spans more than one floor. FPLP is fire resistant and produces low smoke when lit on fire to prevent smoke from filling air ducts, while FPLR is designed to be extra fire resistant to avoid spreading a fire to multiple floors.

You wouldn’t think that wire catching fire presents any big danger, but a hospital near me had to evacuate several floors because smoke from a basement fire traveled through the shielding of some wiring and was carried all over the building.

Hmmm,

I ask beacuse i am going to rewire my system with FPLP, i was going to use FPL but FPLP is cheaper!

Thanks!
