I’ve made a whole non working panel, and alarms, pulls and even doctors and key test switches. Feel free to share your thoughts.
Way back in the day I made LEGO devices as a kind of coping mechanism for not having actual devices, heh (still a step up from paper or cardboard devices if you ask me though, especially since they’re both 3D & can even be made semi-functional with enough engineering (particularly when I eventually figured out how to include LEGO’s Mindstorms system in the mix (though I never honed the design enough before I was finally able to make the leap to actual panels).
I’ve tried to make LEGO alarms, I made a Wheelock as in Lego, that was it. (It didn’t work)
It’s not the same thing but kinda in the same ballpark…
On a project a year or 2 ago, I needed to program a smoke control panel for an exhaust system. The rooftop fans were nowhere near ready, but due to aggressive scheduling I didn’t have much time to do my part, so the electrician I was working with made a fake panel out of a cardboard box to represent the actual panel, and attached the monitor modules that would be later tied in to the fans, with connectors set up to plug in or out to simulate fan status… A mini fake smoke control panel that I could work with.
Hard to explain, but it was at the same time trashy and brilliant, and might be one of my favorite things on the job.
Nice! What happened to it, did it get tossed or is it laying somewhere
It got tossed, and the monitor modules & relays were installed in their permanent location.
Ok! I might be able to take a picture of the fake cardboard panel out in my houses shed sometime later.
