My time at my middle school is coming to an end and just recently I wanted to learn about my schools PA system. I Want to try to figure out the system used because I have little knowledge about PA systems. Below is what I think is the history of the system.
The original PA system was running through an older switching system, probably an older AT&T from the 60s. My school surprisingly used grey simplex 4050 mechanical horns for class switch signals.
Sometime later the system was probably upgraded with a Rauland system and the simplex horns were disconnected. Each classroom had Rauland Call/Privacy buttons and the speakers in the classrooms were these clock/speaker combos.
(The clock here is new and the original time system had a simplex master clock system)
There are also these Simplex loudspeakers.
The building was expanded in the 90s with more Rauland speakers.
In the 2010s the entire system was upgraded to a digital system which is still used to this day. The system is unknown and here is one of the bell tones if you listen closely.
For all call and outside page a chime is used.
For classrooms two chimes sound before you can talk.
I know that the system is not Rauland.
