Help with My Simplex 4606-9101

I got a Simplex 4606-9101 and I don’t know how to use it and if I need a Panel. How do I use this?

That is a “Small Panel” annunciator, It requires a Simplex 4006, 4008, or 4010 “Classic” to operate.

Would it be possible to at least turn it on?

Yes you can, you would apply 24VDC to +24 and ground to +0.

So would +24V be Positive and the Green Wire is Negative?

You will not be using the green wire that is ground you want +24 and 0 are + and -. Those do require a simplex panel to run. It will run but it’s going to give you a communication failed trouble. Idk if you wanted the normal message but that requires the panel to get.

Here is the installation instructions for your unit.

As others have said, you must have a 4006, 4008, or 4010 for this to have any useful function.

Ryan’s answer is correct, wire your positive of your power source to (+24V IN) and your negative to (24C IN). If you need help identifying that, reference the installation instructions or send a picture here and I can draw a diagram for you.

Yeah, no. As others said, you need a Simplex 4006, 4008, or 4010 (Classic) panel for this unit to work. This is an annunciator, a remote unit that connects to the main fire alarm panel. I’d recommend getting a 4006 if you want to use it.

Also just wondering, why did you get this device

I went to the Fire Station for a Tour and the Fire Marshal gave it to me because he was gonna throw it out. He doesn’t know exactly where their old panel is but if He finds it he will give it to me.

Thanks. Out of curiosity does the 4006 have the ability to Code the Alarms to Code 3 or March Time?

Yes for both of those. It is very easy to configure it to do so via the front-panel programming. Same thing goes for the 4008 and 4010 as well.
