This monitoring company is saying they cannot monitor my fire panel without the program for the Honeywell 5505 fire panel…Does anyone out there know where I can find this? Thanks SO MUCH
“Mike, we are not able to get the program for the 5505 Panel for programming. The only way for us to monitor the panel is by passing through a Starlink Dialer or to do the same and monitor Alarm, Trouble or supervisory contacts. Without being able to program that panel we will not be able to do it with the pots lines as we would have to be able to access the program.
If we replaced the System head end and only the command data devices we could monitor Our System. That would need a larger site survey.
Please let us know how you would like to proceed”.
Is this an actual life safety system or just a demo system? If it’s the latter you can get it monitored by ProtoStar, an alarm system monitoring service run by enthusiasts for enthusiasts.
The 5505 is a Honeywell version of, I believe a Radionics 8112 panel. Most likely it uses Radionics format to transmit signals. If you know anything about where the panel came from and have user codes, the central station should be able to remote into it and retrieve the program. I have a D5200 programmer, but I don’t recall if it has the 5505 product handler or not. It’s been over 25 years since I programmed one. Too bad I threw out all of my Radionics manuals and such. I didn’t think I’d ever hear about one again.
When you say “if you know where the panel came from, and have user codes” the panel has been in use at this building for 20 plus years, but I just bought the business about 3 years ago…so I am clueless of any user codes…I appreciate your insight and direction…still looking
Who has been servicing the system for you? Fire alarm systems require periodic testing. 5505 panels were private labeled and installed by Honeywell branches. Honeywell sold that division many years ago and it has since changed ownership at least once or twice more. In my area Stanley was a recent dealer. The 5505 panel many times was used as a combination security and fire system. There would be codes to arm, disarm and silence the system. With a system of this age it will be difficult to find technicians familar with the operation and parts to repair.
