Honeywell SC811 (Wheelock ET-1010-WS-24) Strobe acting weird

So I started to restore this Honeywell SC811 because it was very Dirty. I thought the Strobe was broken because when I powered it on before I disassembled it the Strobe wouldn’t Flash. So when I took it apart to Restore it I noticed when I took the Strobe out of the Lens, it would Flash, but When I put it back in the Lens, it wouldn’t Flash.

Why is the Strobe doing this?

Probably a grounding issue? Or a wire that is maybe attached to the strobe and not contacted correctly. It also could be a internal issue that can’t be fixed.

It’s probably the potentiometre. The thing that sets the flash speed. Wheelock strobes tend not to flash when the potentiometre isn’t set correctly.

The potentiometre is located in the strobe mechanism I believe.

The Strobe Flashes fine when I took it out of the Lens, but when I put it back in the Strobe won’t work.

Look carefully at the wiring where it attaches and at the circiut board. Check the connections . See if anything is binding or twisting when the strobe cover is attached.

So I was looking at the Circuit Board and I noticed this little Resistor isn’t touching this Contact on this little Yellow thing with an Orange Coil. Is the Resistor supposed to touch the contacts on the little Yellow thing? Or is it not supposed to be touching it?

if it’s not then why put a resistor there in the first place?
