I have now Officially Installed My First Fire Alarm

I Repurposed an Old ADT Security System.

The Final System will have My MS-51, My 4251-20, My SPR, and My SPSRL. Hopefully an i3, a Genesis LED Speaker Strobe, and a L Series Strobe Expander Plate.

What do you mean by “repurposed an old ADT security system” exactly? No part of your planned setup seems to use such components/devices.

I reused the Old Wires from the Motion Detectors and Reused the Old Panel Box in the Basement to Join the L Series with My 4251-20 and the Amplifier. Instead of Putting up New Wires I :recycle: Reused the Old Motion Detector Wires that are in the Wall.

If I can Figure out how to use the Old Annunciator, I might be able to use that as a Fire Alarm Panel.

Ah okay, that’s kinda what I thought. Clever!

If by “annunciator” you mean “keypad”, I’m afraid not: a security system’s keypads are only for controlling the panel itself, they by themselves cannot be used as a panel. Security systems also often function somewhat differently than fire alarm systems.

Ohh Okay. I thought I could use that Keypad instead of Buying a $500 Panel because it those Panels on eBay are too expensive.

Nope. No idea where you might find a decent panel for an affordable price but it’s not likely to be Ebay: all I can say is that I wish you luck!

Update: I have added My Edwards Integrity Remote Strobe in the Basement for Strobe Coverage since My SPR is a Remote Speaker.

If you ever use Ebay, watch out. Most sellers get their items second hand and there may be problems that they don’t know about. Recently I bought a Fire-Lite BG8 and the owner said it was in “perfect condition” yet the front sticker was half peeled and the key supplied didn’t work. I thankfully got my money back, though be careful.

That Happened when I got My U-MMT. They said it was New in Box even though the Mounting screw was missing, the Jumpers were cut, and there was a scratch.

Thanks for the heads up.

Here is a little Update: I installed an Edwards Integrity Strobe, a System Sensor SPR, a Pyrotronics MS-51, an Edwards 279B-1120, and a Simplex 4251-20.

Update: I have upgraded to a White LED Genesis Speaker Strobe. It was very easy to replace the SPSRL with it.
